Description
Note: when connected to a 3phase socket this adaptor draws power only from L1 – does not draw power from the other two phases L2, L3.
Use this adaptor to connect your Tesla Mobile Connector (second generation) to single phase or 3phase power outlets rated up to 32A. Your Mobile Connector kit already comes with 10A and 15A tails*
Use the pull-down menu to select your desired plug-type as follows:
- 20A 3 pin
This plug allows you to connect to a single phase 20A 3 round pin socket. (3pin flat also possible, contact us)
This will allow your Tesla to receive charging power up to 4.8kW (where supply current is 20A).
NOTE: This adaptor is set at the factory to draw no more than 24A. When using turn the Amperage on the Main Control Unit in the car to 20A (or less).
- 20A 5 pin
This plug allows you to connect directly to a 3phase 20A 5pin socket.
This will allow your Tesla to receive charging power up to 4.8kW (where supply current is 20A).
NOTE: This adaptor is set at the factory to draw no more than 24A. When using turn the Amperage on the Main Control Unit in the car to 20A (or less). - 32A 3 pin
This plug allows you to connect directly to a single phase 32A 3pin socket.
This will allow your Tesla to receive charging power up to 7.2kW (where supply current is 32A). - 32A 5 pin
This plug allows you to connect directly to a 3phase 32A 5pin socket.
This will allow your Tesla to receive charging power up to 7.2kW (where supply current is 32A).
Why choose the EVchargers Gen2 Adaptor?
EVchargers was the first Australian retailer to bring to market products for the Gen2 Mobile Connector – we sold our first adaptor within days of the Model 3 launch in Australia! Other online retailers have sought to match our prices by using lower grade industrial plugs, we only use the highest quality Australian designed industrial grade switchgear,
- conform to AS/NZS 3123:2005,
- are made from PCA 18 virgin grade plastics (no regrind),
- use 316 stainless steel springs and mounting screws
- internal connections have greater than 80% copper content, (helps with the heat rise) and
- are compatible with Australian switchgear
- Operating temperature range -25° – 70 °C
If you you need some extra length between the car and the charging outlet, and you know you will be connecting to both 32A and 20A outlets, then another choice is to buy our Gen2 Mobile Connector Bundle.
This adaptor has an internal circuit that monitors the plug temperature and communicates with the car when to initiate the charging session. We use a thicker cable for maximum efficiency and it also is more comfortable to grip onto when connecting and disconnecting it from your Tesla vehicle’s mobile connector.
3 phase sockets (particularly 32A) are very common in rural areas, particularly Showgrounds, farm machinery sheds, council depots etc and are arguably more common than petrol stations out in the bush.
NOTE: the chip monitors temperature and quality of the current – some owners have reported reduced charging power at some 32A locations. This is due to the wiring and how the chip is managing the incoming current to safe levels.
*Model 3’s delivered before Dec 2021 came with tails limited to 8A/12A respectively
John Archer (verified owner) –
It should probably be made clear that only one of the three 20A 3Ø pins is connected.
EVchargers (store manager) –
Hi John,
Please refer to this paragraph which is clearly written in the product description:
“Note that this adaptor is for single phase power. When connected to a 3phase socket, it will not be able to make use of the other phases.”
If you have more product queries, please read the description carefully and/or contact us.
